Police make arrest of (ex-AOA) Mina’s suspected assailant, charge him with rape & assault IATFB 12/01/2021 K-Entertainment
Back in September when she was a guest on Blessed Show, former AOA member Mina recalled her experience from over a decade ago with being beaten with a beer bottle and raped back, something she first opened up about back in March.
The Click Your Heart girl then remembers accompanying her friend to an isolated place against her will. Kwon Mina tells that a boy, who was senior to her, was at the empty house with his friends and he physically assaulted Kwon Mina before sexually harassing her. “The boys were all standing still, and I was beaten for hours with a beer bottle and with their fists. I was beaten repeatedly and raped,” she is quoted as saying by Kpopstarz.
The day after her appearance, the police announced they would be launching an investigation, and today they announced that they have made an arrest of a..

‘My Teenage Girl’ is the Frankenstein’s monster of idol survival shows, is already more watchable than ‘Girls Planet 999’ ever was Hojo 11/30/2021 K-Entertainment
I feel u bro My Teenage Girl, an MBC Idol Survival show brought to you by “Produce is wholesome pornography” Han Dong Chul, finally aired its first episode last week. And though AJ seeks to protect my fragile mind from more exposure to this cursed genre of television, to his chagrin I’m back on my bullshit. Because since the first episode has generated news about Soyeon being extraordinarily catty towards some marginally-talented contestants, I had to go and watch the first episode just in case it was something that needed to be covered thoroughly.
Good first performance, and it literally happens by the 20 minute mark of the show My final verdict? I’m not going to cover the show.
Han Dong Chul was the producer of the OG “Produce 101” as well as “Show Me The Money“, “Sixtee..
[Review] Chungha’s “Killing Me” is welcome surge of impassioned pop TheBiasList 11/30/2021 Editorials, K-Entertainment, Reviews
After releasing a mammoth twenty-one track album in February, Chungha has been pretty quiet. But, she’s back to close out the year with digital single Killing Me. After such a long hiatus, this is nice treat that falls in line with the “Savage,” club-ready segment of Querencia.
It’s this style of song that seems so ripe for global breakthrough. Chungha could easily take a Dua Lipa approach and go full on future nostalgic, with her skills as a dancer adding extra K-pop edge. Killing Me is slightly more generic than that, but utilizes today’s trends to its advantage. The bounding electro beat could do with a more singular vision. However, it casts great energy that powers the track with plenty of momentum. I’m more smitten with the synth in the chorus. The production has nice texture here, adding weight to a s..
A cappella group Narin make their mark with K-pop covers & medleys IATFB 11/29/2021 K-Entertainment
Narin are an a cappella group that I stumbled upon awhile ago, and since then they’ve shot up in popularity thanks primarily to their K-pop content. For those who weren’t already aware of their existence, well, I thought you might like to be made aware.
Below are some of my favorite covers and medleys they’ve done — they do cover men, and I swear it’s just a coincidence that these are all by women, lol — and they’ve also started to put out their own songs as well.
TWICE – “I Can’t Stop Me”
AKMU – “NAKKA”
A Pink – “Dumhdurum”
Red Velvet – “Psycho”
(G)I-DLE – “Hwaa”
BLACKPINK Medley – Jennie’s “SOLO” + “As If It’s Your Last” + “Kiss And Make Up” + “Forever Young” + “DDU-DU DDU-DU” + “Playing With Fire”
Narin – “Chilly Night”
As alluded to previously, they’ve recently started dropping their own songs, and this is defin..
IU performs a 2021 version of “My Dream Patissiere”, her 2010 anime OST that became a TikTok challenge
IU performs a 2021 version of “My Dream Patissiere”, her 2010 anime OST that became a TikTok challenge IATFB 11/27/2021 K-Entertainment
The anime Yumeiro Patissiere was popular in many places back around 2009-11 and Korea was no exception. Back then in 2010 IU was chosen to sing the Korean version of the theme song, called “My Dream Patissiere”.
So why bring this up now, right?
Well, in the middle of this year, the song became a dance challenge on Korean TikTok, and it led to a bit of a revival for the song.
So, of course IU recognized that, and to celebrate her YouTube channel reaching seven million subscribers, IU made a 2021 rendition of the song.
While one can believe that IU just did another cool thing in seeing a cute trend and participating, it’s funnier imagining her just wanting to one-up everybody like “let me show you bitches how it’s done” and not only did the challenge but sprung for the band and sung the song as well..

Gong Yoo’s agency SOOP officially denies he went on a date with Taylor Swift, lmao IATFB 11/26/2021 K-Entertainment
Getty Images While Korean entertainment headlines have recently treaded towards ‘stuff that feels like a pitch bot’ territory, not much has beat actor Gong Yoo having his company SOOP issue an official statement denying that he was dating Taylor Swift.
A couple days ago rumors emerged that Gong Yoo was spotted having lunch with Taylor Swift.
Nothing that really implies dating and she apparently is in a relationship anyway. However, rumors were rumors, I guess, and things got to the point where his company was addressing it.
Gong Yoo’s agency released a statement regarding a rumor of the artist going on a date with pop singer Taylor Swift in New York. Through MK Sports on Friday, Nov 26 they claim, ‘Gong Yoo has never been to New York recently’.
I wasn’t certain anybody ever took it seriously, but just having an offi..
T-ara’s “ALL KILL” gets the Dingo Music love it deserves with a live clip IATFB 11/25/2021 K-Entertainment
Following the release of the music video for “TIKI TAKA”, I was satisfied that T-ara had returned with something fun, but I lamented that it was chosen over “ALL KILL”.
Well folks, I’ll take credit for bullying Dingo Music into giving it a “live” clip, which basically doubles as a music video. And indeed, it did standout more conceptually.
Musically, it’s hard to go wrong with basically “Day By Day”, except Western and without a 15-minute music video for money laundering lore or whatever.

[Review] DreamNote switch up their concept and deliver one of the year’s best in “GHOST” IATFB 11/23/2021 Editorials, K-Entertainment, Reviews
The downside of me liking a release is I’ll review it on my own time, even if it’s a month later. The upside is that … well, you get a positive review on Asian Junkie Dot Com. Quite frankly, I’m not sure the wait is worth that, but hey, it’s something.
That all applies to DreamNote‘s “GHOST” especially, as a new group probably would benefit from any eyeballs much more than any blog’s review a month later, but I definitely wanted to write about this effort because it’ll likely be among 2021’s best.
DreamNote debuted late in 2018, and honestly they had not been on my radar at all since. Hell, even if I did like them, it’s been almost two years since we’ve heard from them at all. Well they used that pandemic time to switch things up, as they had previously gone with fresh and sporty girl group t..
f(x)’s Luna reportedly set to debut on Broadway in ‘KPOP, The Musical’ IATFB 11/23/2021 K-Entertainment
f(x) member (technically, I guess) Luna will be making her debut on Broadway as a part of the ‘KPOP, The Musical’ cast, presumably to play the lead, according to a report by People.
Sources tell PEOPLE that Luna, a South Korean singer who recently released the popular single “Madonna,” will be making her Broadway debut in KPOP, The Musical, which will premiere sometime next year. KPOP, The Musical is about the meteoric rise of a K-pop star (presumably played by Luna) in the challenging world of the art form. The show was conceived by Woodshed Collective and Jason Kim. It features a book by Kim, with music, lyrics and music production by Helen Park, and music and lyrics by Max Vernon.
While I had never heard of this play before, apparently it had found success Off-Broadway.
